Welcome to CEE NOTTS. We are a new digital archive sharing memories of Nottinghamshire’s Central and Eastern European community from past and present, with a focus on Mansfield and North Nottinghamshire. We celebrate the contributions of Central and Eastern Europeans to the local area, as well as the regions rich and diverse heritage and culture.
Substantial Central and Eastern European groups have settled in Nottinghamshire since the aftermath of World War Two. Many came as displaced persons and refugees, or were simply exiled here unable to return to their homeland.
Since then CEE culture has had a profound effect on Nottinghamshire’s culture. We’ve seen Polish memorial services in Newark, Latvian sports in Mansfield, and a Hungarian radio station in Nottingham.
We support and celebrate CEE culture here in our home of Nottinghamshire, and we hope you will join us too.
