Klassiki Picks returns with best of Eastern European cinema

The world’s only streaming service dedicated to screening great cinema from Eastern Europe, Klassiki, is partnering with film critic and programmer Elena Lazic to bring a selection of her favourite films to Klassiki audiences.

Elena Lazic is founder of Animus Magazine. Amongst Elena’s picks are Zoltán Fábri’s classic
melodrama Merry-Go-Round (1956), pearl of Hungarian animation The Kidnapping of the Sun and Moon (1968) and Kristina (2023), Nicola Spasić’s delicate documentary-fiction
portrait of a transgender sex worker.

Merry-Go-Round, 1956 (Directed by Zoltán Fábri)

The selection showcases the best of Eastern Europe and its diverse storytelling. Collectively the films show the evolution of folk-customs and stories, from the abstract visual language of Reisenbüchler’s The Kidnapping of the Sun and Moon, to the changing village life in Merry-Go-Round, and the creation of new spiritual rituals in 2022’s Kristina.

All films will be available to stream on Klassiki from Thursday 14 March.
